Now is the time!  If you are a Rotarian in District 6150, you should consider participation in Class Two of the District Leadership Academy.  Here are the proud graduates of Class One.

The opening retreat is Friday-Saturday, September 7-8, 2012.  For more information, including the registration form, go to www.rotary6150.org/go/dla.  And please feel free to contact any of your fellow Rotarians listed above (and found in DaCdb), including the "Academy Pioneers."

First blog post

This blog is in support of the District Leadership Academy, a program of Rotary International District 6150.  Specifically, it is for the program participants; generally, it is for anyone interested or involved in the program.

Hello Class ONE!

While there may be some idle ramblings from time to time, my intent is to supplement the training sessions:
  • followup on unfinished business at most recent training session
  • recommendations for additional reading or resources
  • suggestions on making the most of the training
  • requests for this or that
  • reminders
Never written a blog before, so the style will be evolving.  Your thoughts on style and content will be most appreciated.

The fact is, I need direction.

Okay, first, a word on our purpose at the Leadership Academy.  You have just entered the noble and very challenging world of community leadership.  You are probably involved in various civic roles, but by being in the academy, you are embracing it.  You are en route to community trusteeship, and with graduation from the Academy you are to be considered trustees of your community (more about that term later).

Next, if you haven't joined the DLA Class One Facebook Group yet, please do so.  If concerned about how or what it means, call one of your classmates ("Macho" Mark Weston seems to be pretty knowledgeable about it).

Post pictures there - anything you want to share with your classmates.  If not into the personal sharing, then share things about community leadership - stuff you're doing or you've heard of.

Next2 - (gotta come up with a format thingy) You will soon be getting an email from me with a link to an online survey so you can easily, at your convenience, evaluate the first session.  Watch for it!

Next3  - (this "Next" thing is pretty bad).  Be sure the DLA dates are on your calendar.  Next session is on communication, and a lot more, and will be October 28-29th starting at 5:30pm on that Friday at the Ferncliff Conference Center located just west of Little Rock, AR.  (Those who missed the opening session are being asked to be there at 2:00 for orientation and make-up stuff.)

Well, that's a start.  Be sure to "follow" - you know, click on something up there on this page so you wont' miss out on the next riveting blog from the ...
